Let's Make Birthdays Happen!

Since the year 2000, I've been working with the most amazing people to make birthdays happen for: homeless youth, youth in transitional housing, and youth in low-income families! This is a herculean task, and takes the will of the village to be manifested.

To participate in the "Birthday Bag Drive," I ask that you do the following. Purchase a birthday bag, and fill it with the following items:

• Cake mix*

• Frosting*

• An unwrapped gift for a boy or girl

• Candles

• A birthday related item of your choice.

• *A package of snack cakes can be substituted for the cake mix and frosting.

The idea, is that a parent/guardian will have a "Birthday Bag," which serves as a "party in a box," so they can make sure their children feel special on their special days!

Once you complete your birthday bag, post a photo of it (and yourselves) to social media, to raise awareness for the cause. Be sure to use our hashtags: #BirthdayBag, #BirthdayBagDrive

Once you've posted your photo with your completed "Birthday Bags," donate them to one of the following places in your community:

• A homeless shelter

• An organization that services families in need

• A local food bank

• A Title 1 school
